A One-of-a-Kind Interior Design Challenge
The UpScale ReSale & Design Challenge is Wilmington’s most creative interior design competition. This 2-day fundraising event brings together local design firms who are challenged to utilize items donated to ReStore to upcycle, recycle, and repurpose into beautiful vignettes. All items are then made available for sale to benefit Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity!
Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity ReStore established the UpScale ReSale Design Challenge in 2014 and has seen over 6,000 attendees, 40+ designer participants, and over $160,000 raised in 9 years.
Not only is this event an opportunity shop refurbished, one-of-a-kind pieces, but it also benefits Cape Fear Habitat’s mission of building affordable housing in the Cape Fear Region. Each ticket, sponsorship, and purchase at the event makes it possible for families in New Hanover, Pender, and Duplin counties to become homeowners.

How does the UpScale ReSale work?
During the UpScale ReSale Design Challenge, 16 interior designers create beautiful 10’x10′ vignettes from ReStore resources. They are encouraged to use any donated materials they can find from the 3 Cape Fear ReStores. This can include furniture, decor, building materials – Anything donated to ReStore is fair game! They can then upcycle and refurbish these items into their designs. The more creative, the better!
Their designs are then put on display for the 2 day event. All items are for sale.
During Friday night’s VIP Preview Party, guests have the first chance to check out the designs, enjoy beer, wine and hors d’ouvres, and vote for the coveted People’s Choice Award. The winner is announced that evening.
Saturday’s general admission is open to the public and the last chance to shop the designs. There will also be DIY Demonstrations throughout the day, hosted by Flea Body’s Antique Mall.
When and how can I take the items I purchase at the event?
In order to preserve the designs for the full event, sold items cannot be taken until Saturday after 1:00pm. All items must be picked up at the venue on Saturday afternoon, or delivery is available.
Is delivery available?
Yes, delivery is available courtesy of Two Men and a Truck and can be purchased at any booth during checkout. Purchasing delivery at one booth will apply to all items purchased at the event.
If you purchase delivery for your items, you will be contacted within 3 business days of the UpScale ReSale to arrange a delivery time.
What do the proceeds from the UpScale ReSale support?
